Instructions for claiming your VAT refund

The Dutch VAT Authorities have mandated that we invoice and charge Cinema Expo Registrants and Exhibiting Trade Show companies (except for those companies and individuals who are "Dutch VAT Taxable Persons" a 19% Dutch Value Added Tax). All VAT charges made in respect to the convention should be recoverable by following these instructions:

For Non-Dutch Residents

1. When you register for the Cinema Expo Convention as an attendee or reserve a booth at the Trade Show, you will receive an "Official Invoice". The invoice will indicate the cost of the registration or booth space and will itemize the respective VAT charge(s) incurred in both U.S. Dollars and in Euros. This invoice will be needed when submitting your claim form to the Dutch VAT Authorities.

2. If you do not already have a VAT number, you must fill out an application for your VAT registration number.

3. Once you have a VAT registration number, an application (Form 0b.68) for a VAT Refund must be filled out and returned to the following address along with the official invoice. Please note that the amount you will be looking to receive back is the amount indicated in Euros.

4. This application should be completed and submitted within six months of the end of the calendar year in which you received your invoice. It can be filed as early as the date you receive your official invoice. However, claims for VAT refunds of less that EUR 200 will not be accepted until after the end of the calendar year in which they took place.

For Dutch Residents

Those individuals and companies who are "Dutch VAT Taxable Persons", will also receive an invoice from Cinema Expo which will not indicate a VAT charge. You will then be responsible for accounting for your VAT on the Periodic VAT Return filed in accordance with Article 12 Paragraph 3 of the Dutch VAT Law, as a "Dutch VAT Reverse Charge Mechanism" applies.

We appreciate your taking the time to review these instructions, and if upon review you have any questions, please contact Derric Mast, Registration Coordinator for Cinema Expo or call him at (+1) 646-654-7691.
